Can I vent. My fellow laid off preggos
maybe can concur with this.
Ok. I am 32 weeks pregnant and laid off. Unfortunately my office closed and the entire staff was let go. My last day was 12/5.
I knew this was going to happen a month prior in my 7th month.
Ok I have had to deal with people saying to me so frantically oh my goodness- what are you going to do? What are your plans etc etc?
Is it me or are those stupid questions? I am like HELLO I am due to give birth soon. I will focus on that and then revisit my career after the baby is here.
It is like they are saying to me I should be on the grind looking for a job.
Maybe it is the preggo hormones, but I am so annoyed with people and them asking me what I am going to do?
Anyone else go through this?

Re: Can I vent. My fellow laid off preggos
I was laid off during my maternity leave with DS. People were acting like it was the end of the world. Honestly, it was the best thing that could have happened b/c I got paid an extra XXX weeks to stay home. It did stink trying to interview with a NB at home, but in the grand scheme of things it was not that bad. The thing that ticked me off was people telling me, as I am nursing my 1 week old son, that I had to *get on it* looking for a job. Um, no, sorry I do not.
I am sorry that you got laid off. It is an icky feeling no matter when it happens.

Re: Can I vent. My fellow laid off preggos
I got laid off when I was 9 weeks..and then shortly after that, I was put on bedrest..so it was like a blessing in disguise.
Yes, people always ask me what I am going to do or how I manage..it's called umemployment LOL. I just ignore them..no one is going to hire me at this point, 8 months preggo..so for now I am enjoying my time off, peace and quiet, and trying to rest now because I know I won't get any later.

Re: Can I vent. My fellow laid off preggos
I got laid off at 35 weeks and it was a blessing, I got paid severance i wouldn't have gotten paid through maternity leave and unemployment is more $$$ than I would have gotten on disability, my mom freaked out and I freaked out on her to stop bc I don't need panic, If I'm not panicking there is no reason for others to panic!!!

Aww, our industry right now is crazy and I'm happy you are taking this time to focus on mommy & baby-to-be. Seriously, don't let those nutjobs get to you
