For those ladies with pierced navels....

I got my belly button pierced back when I was 18..... thinking it was the coolest looking thing in the world.

Well, while I still enjoy it, I am thinking that when I do get my BFP and become very pregnant, that hole is going to look stupid.

What is everyone's experience with this? At what month in the pregnancy did you take it out? And, did it look ridiculous? If any of you have already given birth, does it look funny after your body recovers and goes back down?

Just curious what I'm in for

I took mine out at about 20 weeks when I started to see the hole looking a little stretched out! I also have had it a long time- 12.5 years to be exact (got it when I was 15), so it was hard to part with but it was starting to look a lil silly! It looked a lil weird for all of a few weeks but its looking great now, so I'm glad I took it out when I did!

I had friends who bought the pregnancy rings and kept it in the entire pregnancy!

I also took mine out at 20 weeks. If you look in my album you can see. the skin on my belly is very tight and I cant imagine still having it in at this point.

I took mine out with my 1st pregnancy at 20-25weeks and never put it back in... there is a hole above my belly button but it does not look bad at all....

I took out my belly ring about 5 years ago. Even though it is completely closed up, you can still see the hole. I don't think it looks that bad. It might get worse as my belly grows bigger though.

I took mine out a couple of weeks before I became pregnant just because I was sick of it. I was also wondering what it would look like when my stomach starts to grow. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I've had mine in the entire pregnancy. I'm now 29 weeks and I still get a compliment every time the doc takes a look at my belly. I received it as a gift. It's a maternity ring that has a dangle and says "boy" on it in baby blocks, with blue and silver crystal beads. It really is the cutest thing! I plan on keeping mine in for the rest of my pregnancy. I suppose I'll have to take it out if I need a C-section, but if not....it'll be there till my little guy is out of there.

i kept my belly ring in the entire pregnancy! my innie belly button never popped, it just got flat. i did use a maternity belly ring towards the end just in case the hole stretched out but it never did.

I took mine out and replaced it with an acrylic piece. I thought Id be able to keep it in during the c-section but they made me take it out (while I was contracting BEFORE my spinal mind you) and I never put it back in. I dont plan to. Im not worried though.When I get my tummy tuck after baby # 2, Ill ask for a lil extra "work" over there to make it look right. Besides, Id feel a bit silly as a 40 year old with a pierced navel since nobody will ever see it!

I took mine out around 12 weeks. I put it back in after I had my dd and it looks the same as it did before.

DH hates it so i took it out before i got my BFP
Not just because he doesnt like it, but because i wanted to take it out before my belly stretched

now at 34 weeks it actually shrunk

I took it out in the very begining. Then (not to be gross) some goo came out. Aftewards (two kids later) it look normal. I let it close up though, just didn't have the time for it anymore.


This was my experience - it could be different for other women.

I took it out I think I was 25 weeks. It was starting to bother me a little, I ended up getting a "black spot" over the hole. I can still see the hole but it moved up. It's very weird looking. I sure hope it all goes back to normal afterwards....

I took mine out when I was around 25wks with my first pregnancy. The hole turned a purple bruise color & stayed that way for quite a while. I never put the ring back in. Now I can still see the holes (& I guess they're obvious because DD just asked yesterday what that was on my belly) & I can feel a raised bump between the two holes. Fortunately, it's back to normal skin color.

I'm 26 weeks, and I took mine out early...in the 2nd month, I think. I still have a little hole over my belly button that won't go away. It looks like a mole unless you see it up close.

I haven't had mine in in years....but the hole practically disappeared when I was preggers. It looks the same as it did before now.

I also had my belly button pierced 8 years ago and took mine out around the 2nd month of my pregnancy when I was starting to show because I didn't want the jewelry to rip out from my belly stretching. My belly button never popped out but it stretched out and came out to the same level as my belly so it was one smooth surface. The actual hole for the piercing I was worried about as well but it looks fine now that I had my baby. It looks just as it did when I took out the jewelry but slightly stretched, but not funny looking at all so don't worry!
