Need help with an inexpensive 80s outfit
My friend is a having an 80s themed 30th b-day party at a roller rink. We are supposed to dress in 80s attire. I'm going to see if I can find some of my old accessories (rubber bracelets, charm necklaces) at my parents' house, but I certainly don't have any 80s clothing, since I only turned 10 in 1989.
Any ideas for an inexpensive 80s outfit? I need to find an old plastic t-shirt ring! I wish I still had my slouch socks...
ETA: You ladies are so good at this. Any ideas for DH?

If you have a tshirt you don't care about (or you can use a men's undershirt or something) you can cut the neckline and make it off the shoulder....lots of blue or purple eye shadow--get some cheap leggings, wear with short denim skirt Side pony and you're good to go!

if you end up going the route where you need an old 'metal' tshirt, come hit up me or jae - i still have some of my old shirts! i agree with some of the op's - definitely the bigger hair the better.
for dh.. i'd suggest going for the skinny tie, skinny jeans, button down shirt (think 16 candles anthony michael hall etc.) or you could go for the spiky mullet do for him (get a wig?) and he could be the rocker guy - acid wash jeans, old band tshirt, converse sneakers, try some makeup on him
and take pictures!

They still have scrunchies just about everywhere if you look. I wear them around the house. They are a lot more comfortable and less damaging to the hair than anything else, even the bands that say they won't damage. Ok, enough with the excuse I have for using scrunchies, you have some roller skating to do!!!
For the T-shirt ring, some of them were really belt buckles. Go to a Goodwill type store, get a cheap belt with a lightweight buckle and a belt that looks easy to cut. Then chop off the belt part and use the buckle to pull your shirt through.

Target - buy a big t-shirt (long enough for you to tie a knot in the side) and leggings. Ta-da!
Don't forget the hair spray!
