Does anybody wear cotton knit turtlenecks anymore?
So last night I tried on a sweater and it looked like it needed something under it but I realized I don't have any cotton knit turtlenecks anymore. I know LLBean and Lands' End have them but...
does anyone wear them anymore? Am I setting myself up to look like a frumpy old lady in the woods of Maine or like little kid whose mommy made her wear it?
I usually don't let my style be ruled by the masses but I feel like NO ONE wears turtles anymore...

You know I have one from LL bean from 1995 or so! I haven't really seen them around recently.
I think under something would be OK....

Funny thing. I was thinking of when we wore cotton turtles and I don't know why I started thinking of those pretty embroidered sweaters we had from Express and the one you bought off of LK

def. out of style if you ask me.
I remember wearing them as a kid, but wouldn't wear the fold over type now. although i do have sweaters that are like that and i've seen other people wear them to, but they just don't look that bad

Maybe try a mock turtleneck? Lands End makes those too.

Hmm I say, no to the turtleneck. I looooooove turtlenecks too. Mostly the cableknit sweater ones though.
What does the sweater look like? What type of neckline? Fabric?

Re: Does anybody wear cotton knit turtlenecks anymore?
Ummmm, yeah, I do wear them . Most sweaters are itchy and I want something cotton between me and the sweater. The itchiness can be worse at the neckline, so I go for turtles. The LLBean monogrammed ones make me look a little more dressed up at work, even if I don't look "happening." Also, Eddie Bauer has some colors and patterns that are a little bit more up to date.

i don't like the look of turtlenecks under other sweaters (to me, that seems frumpy) but i like them by themselves or under a sleeveless dress for fall.
i still wear them so if they are out of style i need a makeover

I don't wear them. I usually wear a long-sleeved t under an itchy sweater or one with a low neck.

I wore one today, which i bought last year on sale at old navy. I have about 4 maybe? I also have cotton turleneck sweaters from old navy.
I dont think there out of style, but fashionable?? I wouldnt exactly say chic at all.
Its about comfort at work and in the cold. And in my line of business, comfort really goes a long way

I'm wearing one right now. I have so many in all different colors. I get them from the Eddie Bauer outlet for around $10-$15 each - they are SO SOFT!!! I LOVE layering with them.
eta: I really don't care if they're "in" or not. being warm is always in style for me

That was the outift I was thinking of!
My mid 90s cold weather outfit was an Express sweater with a turtleneck and leggings. Man, that was comfy back in the day!!!

I used to have one in every color from Caldor when I was in Jr. High. I don't have them anymore though.
