Will you have carpet or not? We are just about done with this room, but i need to decide if I should put carpet or refinish the hardwood floors...? What is everyone doing?

Re: Babys room

We have hard wood floors throughout the house. I am an asthmatic and have allergies and it was recomended to me by my pulmonologist to not have carpeting in as much as the house as possible.

The nursery currently has hardwood floors. I think we will be putting a small area rug in there but not full fledge carpeting.

Our nursery is carpeted. It's wasn't a choice for us though. We rent.

Us too. I am a little worried because my husband has allergies, but I also heard that carpeting is good for when they start climbing out of their cribs / beds - cushioning in case they fall!

Re: Babys room

I have hardwood, I think I will probably get an area rug, but decided against wall to wall carpeting in case baby inherits my allergies .........

Re: Babys room

Before DD #1 was born, we had all hardwood floors throughout the house. I knew her room didn't hold heat very well as we were preparing the nursery. We did have a carpet installed in her room, as well as, hardwired baseboard heating. The heat has been a great addition so at night I can set her room on 67'ish and the rest of the house is cool. With the price of oil....Chat Icon

We're on the fence too..we have hardwood floors. I was thinking we would just put an area rug, but now we're undecided.

Re: Babys room

From experience - you def. want to put carpeting in the room.

We spend countless hours on the floor with Jack in his room. Playing, when he was learning to crawl, all the time. I couldn't imagine him sitting on hardwood floors personally. It just makes the room so much more comfy IMO. Chat Icon

Re: Babys room

Our apt has hardwood throughout. We have an area rug in there, but we will replace it with something a little bigger and something that matches the bedding we use.

No carpet - I don't like carpet. I'll get a throw rug to match bedding/decor though.

Re: Babys room

Actually... we had someone at our house today pulling up the rugs and putting hardwood floors in! I am so excited about it!

We will put an area rug in her nursery-
