Need doggy help???
My dog is 9months old, and is pretty good except for one thing. She rips up every bed and toy we get her.
We put her in a crate and place a small bed inside. She has already ripped a hole in three of them. She loves her crate most of the time, and we always leave the door open, so she can go lay down when she wants. She will go in there and just start ripping at her bed. I understand her getting frustrated when she is in the crate and she doesn't want to be, but I don't get why she just goes in and starts tarring at it. SHe also rips up ever toy I buy her. I'm down to only buying rope toys which she rips up also but it takes longer. When I say rip up her toys, I mean with in 20 minutes of bringing it home. I also, buy her lots of bones. Those are great. She doesn't chew anything else in the house. This is a 13lbs dog I'm talking about. Also, she is only in her crate no more then 4 hours at a time. This is during the week when I work. Any suggestions?

Re: Need doggy help???
I'd buy her a kong.. they come in different sizes, so you buy according to the size of your dog. you can stuff peanut butter and treats inside it and dogs love trying to get it out, mine takes like 2 hours trying to get the treat out. and they are pretty much indestructible. Can also freeze it with the peanut butter inside to make it last longer.
Oh, and next time she chews the bed I would try just taking it away for a while. Then when you give it back take away again if she still chews it. I have one of those small rugs in my dog's crate and a soft towel for her to lay in because the bed took up too much room.

I totally agree with the kong. it's such good mental stimulation for them, and it keeps them busy. my dog doesn't like peanut butter but i use cream cheese, wet food, or anything else that can act as a "sealer" over the hole. maybe she needs more exercise too? does she have enough toys to play with?

My dog has destroyed a sofa, comforters, towels, shoes, clothing, 4 of my hats, a cordless phone, my digital camera, well you get the idea...
Now, when I leave in the morning I leave him with a kong stuffed with peanutbutter and/or treats and he wears himself out with that and just sleeps after. He is almost 2 now and we leve him loose.

I got Teemu Tuff toys. They come rated 5 to 10 - 10 being pretty indestructible. They are $$$, but Teemu literally can tear up a standard dog toy in 1 minute.
Also, Orvis has Tuff beds that have a money back guarantee.

I bought her a tuff toy. It was a figure of a person and had a hawaiian design. She ripped a hole in it within 20 mintues. I need one that is rated a 10. When do you find a tuff bed. I will pay the extra money if it works.
