I'm so sad (kinda long)
Some of you might remember that we rescued a stray back in July, and gave her a safe place to have her 7 kittens.
The GOOD news is, we've managed to adopt out 3 of them. My sister has offered to take 2 of them, but then she was relocated to CA and it's difficult to get them out to her. But we've agreed to keep her 2 until November, when she comes back to visit.
We still have 2 kittens left, and we're running out of time to find homes for them. They're also almost 15 weeks old, and are not as tiny and kitten-looking as they used to be. We're running out of time because we have the kittens and the mama cat quartered in what will be our nursery and its adjoining bathroom.
I feel like we have exhausted all of our options. We've spent SO much time, dedication AND $ to give these kittens a chance, and I don't want to have to bring them to the shelter. But I'm getting really scared that we don't have any alternative.
To make matters worse, we had planned on keeping the mama cat, but she lived on the street for too long and is downright AGGRESSIVE to our other cat, who has never been a threat to her. During their last altercation, our cat got so scared that he peed on the floor. It's looking like we're going to have to find a home for her, too.
I'm just at a loss. We're having a baby in 7 weeks, and right now our nursery (which needs a full carpet replacement due to kitten "accidents", not to mention paint and assembling the furniture) is out of commission.
Just venting I guess.

I'm really sorry I know you tried your best and it is very admirable given you have a baby on the way!!! Can you put them on Petfinder?? Have you put up fliers in stores etc? What about vet offices?

I think a vet is a great idea. my vet often has kittens in a cage in their office for adoption. maybe they will take care of momma cat too ?
I think you need to move quickly on this, kittens go faster than cats at shelters. You want to get them out there while they still have that kitten look.

I know it stinks to have to bring them to a shelter but as long as you can find a no kill shelter in your area at least you can feel ok about it. Chances are they will still get a loving home- I got my kitty from a no kill shelter and there were lots of people there looking for cats....
