opinion on this girls name...
I know, I have until June before the baby comes, and until February before I even know if it's a girl, but DH and I are so excited we have been really focusing on names! 
What do you think of the name Bella? Not Isabella, just Bella. Do you think it's to much like a nickname? Last night, DH and I watched a movie "Bella", and I just fell in love with the name- especially after I realized it means "beautiful". What do you all think? TIA!

Very pretty.
I have been hearing that name a lot recently. Not sure if you are looking for a name that is not common or if that doesn't matter to you. Personally I love it.

Well DS is Joseph, which is not unique, but certainly not very common either. I guess that is what we are going for with this baby. Ever since we were pregnant with DS, we said our girl would be Lea. And although I still love that name, and think it is beautiful, I am just so in love with the name Bella, in may beat out Lea if this kid is a girl

If I didn't name my dog Bella, I would have chosen this name, too!!! I love that name!!! My other dog's name is Lexi and that's yet another girl's name I love!

Very cute for a little girl, but I don't really like it for an adult. I would name her Isabella so at least you can call her Bella as a child and she will have a more grown up name when she gets older. JMO though!!!

I just posted a similiar question for a boys name! I think Bella is a pretty name and I don't think it's just a nickname at all.

Bella is really nice. Remember that Isabella is the #1 girl's name in New York, so Bella is a nice alternative.

Thanks ladies!!
Bella is definetly in our top 3 girls names right now, along with Lea and Alexandra. The thing is, I am picky with names, probably to picky lol. If we did name her Isabella, I would ONLY want her called Bella. But if we named her Alexandra, I would want her called Lexi, NOT Alex. Maybe I should send instructions with the birth announcement.

I like it, but I think I would want to give her some options....Bella is a beautiful name, but if she isn't comfortable with it, there isn't much she can do.
I mean, *you* may only like one nickname that comes with a name, but as she gets older, she may prefer another.
I always think about this, b/c I tend to be drawn to very feminine names, but what if I have a daughter who is more tomboyish as she ages....I'd want a name that could be manipulated to suit her personality, so she'd like it as well as me.
Not sure if that makes any sense at all- and of course, you should do what you want since she is your little girl!
