Fall weather in NY
Tell me about the weather at the moment. I am going to NY next week and I've just realised that I haven't been in a "fall" for 4 years . I miss it! "Fall" doesn't really exist here.
I will be there until the middle of November. What should I pack.
Do you think it is UGG boot season?
Can I wear regular boots?
Do I need a heavy-ish jacket? Or will a light jacket and a vest suffice?
Can I still wear flip flops or peep toes?
Do I need mostly heavy sweaters or are lighter sweaters better?
What about tights?
What about turtlenecks?
Sorry, I should know better, being that I grew up in NY, but my last true fall was in 2004 and I have truly forgotten.
Thanks!
ETA: The less I pack the more I can shop

Re: Fall weather in NY
Def bring boots and UGGs!
sweaters, light jacket (depending on if you get cold easily).
I would not wear flip flops outdoors now, unless I was going to the salon for a pedicure.
peep toes, yes turtlenecks, yes tights, yes

Re: Fall weather in NY
The weather is sort of all over the place. Last weekend it was int the 50s, and I saw lots of Uggs, and even some winter coats! The heaviest jacket I wore was a suede jacket.
Today it is in the high 70s--short sleeves, no jacket during the day weather. Light jacket or sweater at night.
I've just been wearing flats, b/c it seems to be in between open toes & boot weather.
I'd bring tights & long sleeves for the cooler days, but not turtlenecks or heavy sweaters.

Re: Fall weather in NY
I never remembered it being that warm in October. Ok, I'll ask the day before I go.
Thanks for everything so far!

Re: Fall weather in NY
my best friend got married in early nov a few years ago
it was 75 degrees!
layers are good- but you might need a heavy coat- you might not
I put all my summer stuff away- and now it's going to be 70+ till tuesday
last year I was wearing uggs now
it's so crazy- I would hate to see you with the opposite of what you need!

Re: Fall weather in NY
I think early Nov is very typical Fall weather-- it won't be too cold. So, bring stuff that will keep you warm, but don't worry about bringing things to bundle up in.
I agree with others-- wait until like the week, or a few days, before to really pack since the weather is so crazy.
