not necessarily
I am friendly with a girl i CANNOT STAND (a friend of mine's friend). My friend will invite us both over and she drives me crazy....But me being a beyatch or even telling my friend how much i can't stand her only makes it hard on her... SO i fake it
But i do think that as much as i try to fake it...My true feelings are kind known...

I have to agree, I do not like my sister's boyfriend at all. But I am nice to him when he is around to keep peace in the family.

Re: Is it hypocritical...
No, I don't think it is. If you are in a social setting I think being nice or tolerating a person that you don't like is the considerate thing to do.
A group of my DH's friends once went out to dinner together to celebrate DH's birthday and one girl was outwardly hostile towards another person in the group and it just made for a very unpleasant evening. She attempted to justify her actions by saying she refused to be "fake." IMO she chose to be selfish instead. We were all very happy when she decided to go home early.
