I'm going for my consult

on Monday w/ Dr. Goldschlag at Cornell.

I know most of you don't know me; and I'm kind of new here. I don't post a lot because, honestly, I don't understand a lot of the questions. Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute after I meet with the dr. on Monday. I really want to, but I'm a bit "out of the loop" at the moment.

I hope you don't mind helping me in the meantime.

I'll be bringing my medical records (including post m/c, paps from Nov '07 & May '08, and CD21 testing (for progesterone levels). Can anyone recommend questions to ask? I'm 33, and had a m/c Dec. 07, at exactly 5 weeks. I went off the pill in Jan.07, but we were consciously trying from 9/07 until now.

I'm kinda new to all this, and any insight/advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you, so much, to any who respond. I'm lost, and appreciate the help/guidance.

Re: I'm going for my consult

On the first consult you're mostly going to be talking a lot about your history and the doctor will be asking you questions. S/he will be telling you what tests they suggest and based on those results, I think that's when your questions should come into play. You are still relatively young and have lots of options at this point. Once you get the results you'll be better prepared to ask questions. I guess the most important things to know on the first visit is when they do monitoring, what the office hours are, if you can call to speak with the doctor/nurse if you have questions and how they get information to you on what your steps need to be when cycling. Just knowing how the office operates are important questions because you will be there A LOT.

Once you are back from your consult and have had all your tests, there are tons of questions to ask! You need a diagnosis and course of treatment in order to really be prepared to ask questions with specifics.

Lots of luck to you and remember we're here for you along the way!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would probably ask what my next steps are. Is there more testing that needs to be done? Blood work? An HSG?

Talk about how aggressive you want to be.

Make a plan!

I wish you nothing but the best! Please FM me after and we can chat!Chat Icon

Re: I'm going for my consult

I have a friend in a support group i am in who sees dr Goldschlag. she is not pregnant yet, but she is very happy with him and with Cornell.

I am also a patient at Cornell- I see Dr Chung - and I am very happy there. You are in good hands, they will do the best they can for you.

Bring a list of questions even though he will most likely go through EVERYTHING before you even have a chance to ask. as the PP said "MAKE A PLAN"!! Leave there knowing what your next step will be. With IF i feel like that is so important to me...just knowing my next step. and sometimes being two steps ahead. "If this doesnt work, whats my next step?"

FM me if you have any questions - good luck!
