Vertigo
Anyone have it?
I have for about 3 years now, and it comes and goes. Sometimes every 6 months , sometimes more often.
So far with this PG it seems like its every two weeks I have it for days. I take anti vertigo meds( anti vert) but they dont seem to do anything , and if they help its for like 20-30 min's.
I have to be really careful when I stand up, if i Move my head too fast I start to spin bad.
Any tips?? I have asked my Dr and they seem clueless as far as tips to make it better.
Its really depressing to feel dizzy 24/7.

Re: Vertigo
Donna, I had my first lovely episode of vertigo about two weeks ago. I woke up in the middle of the night to find the room spinning. I stood up to go to the bathroom (already difficult because of this back pain) and wound up getting sick to my stomach. I decided to go back to sleep, thinking it was just a fluke thing.
I woke up again about 3 hours later, hadn't even opened my eyes yet, and turned my head very slightly to the right. The room started spinning again and I hadn't even opened my eyes. DH had to bring me the garbage pail, and I proceeded to get sick 3 more times in the next 10 minutes.
I wound up going to the ER because I was scared out of my mind (and because it was Sunday, of course). They found that I had fluid behind my eardrums. They gave me the Antivert and told me to take Claritin to try to dry up the fluid. So far (knock on wood) I haven't had any more problems with it.
I'm so sorry, I'm sure this doesn't help you any--except maybe to let you know that there's someone else who's been through the same thing.

Re: Vertigo
Two of my friends had really bad vertigo. It was linked to their eardrums. One of them, just took Zyrtec and it was gone. The other had major ear infection and had surgery.

we are allowed to take claritin? Mine is ear related. I have menieres disease and sinus issues usually trigger it. Thanks to those who responded!

Re: Vertigo
I have suffered through vertigo for years until I was "cured"!! Yes, it will come back every once in a while but it never lasts long and it's no where's as intense as it used to be.
I tried anti vert and almost everything possible. It wasn't until I went to an ENT that KNEW what he was talking about that I started to feel better! If the vertigo is connected to your ear (which mine is), crystals are knocked out of place in your inner ear that then float around and hit nerves - causing your vertigo. This doctor performed a massage type therapy on my head. He laid me down (which was horrible because it enduces the vertigo) and rubbed this vibrating machine in certain spots of my head to knock the crystals back into place. I then slept sitting up for two nights and it was gone! If you are interested in more information, let me know This was the ONLY thing that has helped and has been a life saver!

Re: Vertigo
I got it for the first time when I was about 10 weeks and it was horrible. I got checked out and they said it wasn't my ears, but gave me nothing to help it. It lasted a few days, but did progressively get better. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this on top of everything else

YES, I had no idea about the Claritin. To think I suffered through the spring without my Allegra! It was awful! But yeah, Claritin is completely and totally safe. You may want to give it a try, I don't know if that's what helped me, but I keep on taking it just because I don't want to find out otherwise!
