Interviewing pediatricians

HELP! I feel clueless. I am almost 33 weeks and I know it's time to interview doctors. I just don't know where to start!

I live in Yaphank, so any recommendations in that vicinity would be so helpful.

Also, what the heck do you say when you "interview them"???

Any advice would be helpful.

THANKS! Chat Icon

Re: Interviewing pediatricians

you can google questions to ask them but when I went he answered them all before I got to ask I am using Dr Darius Holmes in Shirley (across from the LINKS golf course) he is very knowlegable caring and he is wonderful I work with him at the hospital I work at another I can recommend is Carlos Rivera in patchogue he is wonderful but he has a big practice the only reason I am not going there is b/c I want to see adr everytime I go not a NP but he is a great Dr what really impresses me about these two are that attendings usually come the next day or two if your child is admitted I have seen these 2 come up in the middle of the night to see you depending on the baby's condition of course but they are genuinly concerned you know I really trust these 2 but I chose Daruis b/c he has a smaller practice and you see only an MD

Re: Interviewing pediatricians

I didn't have a lot of questions when I interviewed pediatricians. And I was 33 and 38 weeks preggo when I did my interviews, so I wouldn't worry about being late.

My main questions were about vaccinations - did they have a problem delaying them, would they break up the MMR. At the time I wasn't even sure of what I would want to do, but I needed to know that I had options.

Some pediatricians won't do this and that's fine if you want to follow their vaccination schedule, but if you have other ideas you need a ped who is on board with that. I think aside from that issue, choosing a ped is a matter of personalities.
