Sukons
After checking out furniture at BRU, DH and I are going to check out Sukon's in a couple of weeks. For those who bought their furniture there, did they put the crib together when they delivered it? Also, my dad had me thinking about having the furniture delivered after the baby is born, god forbid something happens. If I order it before I give birth, will they hold it and deliver once the baby arrives?

Re: Sukons
Sukon's is very accomodating and will definitely hold furniture for you as long as you want. Set up of the furniture is included. They are super quick to assemble the furniture! My sister said they were in and out in 10 minutes.

Re: Sukons
They charge a very insignificant fee for delivery, set up and clean up. It is either higher or lower depending where you live in relationship to the store. Since I do not live in the city limits (the store is in Queens) they charged me maybe $10 more for the service. We bought a crib (and conversion kit), double dresser (with a hutch) and a 5-drawer dresser. I sure as hell am not going to want to put it all together and I think DH will be a lil busy as well. I bet they do it rather quickly as well.
(Right now their stuff is in their warehouse waiting for the baby to be born and has been there for at least 4 weeks now.)

Is delivery out of control to NJ??
Wondering if it is even worth it to check this place out.

Many cultures (mine being Jewish) do not set up a nursery until the baby is born and safe. My nursery room is empty with the exception of a paint job and valences.

Re: Sukons
we ordered from them and they do assemble
we also waited until the twins were born to have the furniture delivered and they were fine with it
it was easy with us, because her section was scheduled, so we had them deliver it two days later.

Sukon's is in Ozone Park. I live 2 miles in from Queens in Western Nassau and they charged us $110 for delivery, set up and clean up. I would have paid more to not deal with the hassle. I'd check it out. You could always call them up and ask them how much they would charge to ship X number of pieces to NJ to see if it is worth it for you to make the trip.

Randi - 100% worth checking out! We got our furniture here and they are delivering to us with no problem and we don't have to pay sales tax since we live in NJ. Delivery, setup etc was $175.00 which was a little more than other places charge (I found it ranged between $100-$150), but the fact that we didn't have to pay tax more than compensates for it! It might be cheaper for you since you are much closer to NY.

Our furniture just came in yesterday. However the room isn't ready yet. So they're holding the furniture until we finish the room. Like Leslie said, other people want it held for cultural/religious reasons.

k-- thanks for the info. Now I gotta figure out how the hell to get to Ozone Park. Considering I grew up in Queens--- and I still have no clue where that is!!
I do so much stuff out out LI anyway-- since it's just easier since I know my way around and we are out there to visit parents. I was going to check out Behrs too-- even though they have such an annoying commercial.

Yep, exit 17 on the Belt Parkway- Cross Bay Blvd. You make a left at the light onto Cross Bay (assuming you're heading east from Brooklyn). It's a few blocks down on your right hand side.

Re: Sukons
I was VERY annoyed with them.. I ordered my DD furniture in JULY, she was due in December.. It was supposed to come the weekend of Thanksgiving..
the furniture didn't arrive until the day before Christmas Eve, a week AFTER she was born..
they did NOTHING to accomodate me and her furniture was over 5k..
Never again will deal with them

Re: Sukons
Most of my friends have ordered thier nurseries from here and have had no issues. They told me that everything will be assembled here in the home and that if it comes in early they will hold it. Some sets they ave in stock others take 6 to 16 weeks to get in. The one I picked is on the longer side but its ok for me if it doesnt get here in time. the room will be done and she wont be in a crib for awhile after she is born anyway. They have pretty sets you will like them.

When I went to Behrs they would not compromise on price, delivery, etc. The price they gave me was a firm and final price. At Sukons, they worked with me on price for a few reasons. I bought my sister's furniture there in Nov (it was her gift) and they acknowledged this. I also went when they were running a special and didn't pay any sales tax. So I saved a little bit of money.
