When does mealtime become neat and clean??

Just wondering from the moms with older kids, when does mealtime stop being a throwing food fest? I have to stand guard over Jack or else the second he is finished eating it all winds up on the floor or on the walls!

My son is 3 1/2 and it all depends on his mood. I usually do have to vacuum after him for so much food gets on the floot or he spills a drink. So maybe when there about 10 years old Chat Icon

My son is 20 months and its gotten better now that he can use utensils. But he's by far no where near being as neat as I'd want him to be.

Re: When does mealtime become neat and clean??

My 18 month old is a plate thrower and it drives me crazy b/c we have light carpeting in our DR (which I hate but thats another story). Im trying to get her to just tell me when shes done instead of doing the big toss. But things like yogurt, oatmeal and such just arent pretty around here. She uses utensils but not with much savvy. My son is 3 and is pretty neat for the most part. I guess around 2-2 1/2 he got much better. Once he really got good with utensils, I saw a huge change.
