annoying ttc here..
i have a question, 2 actually. DH and I wanna start TTC next month and i still have a week left of bcp. did it take any of you long to get a bfp after stopping bc?? also when should i start looking for a ob? thanks girls.

i stopped BCP in the middle of september and i got PG in december - i think it would have happened sooner but we were just "winging it" the first three cycles and so it didn't. my cycles were always short (that's why i went on BCP to begin with) and they were short again right after stopping BCP.
i didn't find an OB until after i got pregnant. i really didn't see the need.

I stopped in November and got BFP in early March. We didn't try until February though. I didn't want to be PG for the holidays and we went to Ireland in February.
But I will tell you my cycles were all screwy. I don't think it would have happened so fast if I didn't use the ovulation predicition kit.

I got pregnant the first month after I stopped taking BCP.
I switched OB/GYNs when I relocated, which was about 1 year before TTC. I'm glad I found someone I was comfortable with before I got pregnant.

i have about 13 days left of bcp. do u think i should stop taking it now to enhance my chances of getting a bfp next month or continue until it's done? obviously the sooner for a bfp the better haha but i don't want to screw up my body either

I'd think that stopping BCP mid-cycle could screw you up even more. I waited to TTC until after I was done with a pack of pills.
If you stop mid-cycle, you could start bleeding. I know I'd spot if I forgot to take my pills for 1 or 2 days. That wouldn't really be CD 1 though b/c it probably isn't a true AF. You need to do what you feel comfortable with though.

if you stop taking the pills now or wait, it won't make a difference. you will get AF in a few days either way after stopping the pills, and that will be your first CD1 (and yes, it would be a true AF  )

thanks guys. i talked to a nurse and she said to finish out the pack because then my cycle won't get as messed up as it would if i stopped immediately. i'm hoping i get preggo relatively soon!!
how soon did you girls get pregnant after coming off bcp?

I got off the pill in Feb of 07..
I was on the same pill for about 13years straight..
Gave myself 6mths of ignoring it since I heard it takes awhile to get back on track.
Then I looked at Mymonthlycycles.com for my fertile dates in Dec 07 and gave it a go..(didnt even warn the hubby) and BAM got preggos on the first try.

I went off BC in December, we didn't start trying until Feb - I got PG my 2nd month trying, so 3 months total off of BC

my cycle got very messed up after stopping BCP (was on it for 8 years), at one point it was 60 days in between cycles, but after 5-6 months all of a sudden it started regulating itself and I got BFP right after we started really trying

I went off BCP in Feb.
Dh was working in Germany Feb, March, April and we only saw eachother once a month for a week...so not a lot of time...
He came home from this job in May and I got pregnant the weekend after!
If I had to guess, if he were home more often in March/April it could have happened then...

were you having fertility issues?? well i'm glad it eventually happened for you!
dh and i are huge disney fans. got engaged at disney, went on our honeymoon in disney and are going in a few weeks and thought it would be a great addition to our life changing events at disney haha. but i guess i have to expect it not to happen so fast
