Sterilizing BFing stuff
I got the Medela accessory kit. Can I throw everything in there in boiling water? Or do I remove valves, membranes, etc? What do the valves and membranes do?

Throw everything in there. Then hang the tubing so it can dry. You can place the other stuff in a dish rack to dry after they steralize. The valves and membranes are what help to provide suction when you pump. If you go on the Medela site they have tons of info about the specific parts and how to care for them and the pump. I spent a lot of time there! 
Edited to say that I DID take the valve apart from the breastshield and the white membranes off the valves when I boiled everything the first time.
