What would you do?

i just got back from the doctor. Im 36 weeks and due sept 7th. My doctor said he wont be around aug 28th or sept 4th. He then said it was up to me but he could schedule me to come in on sept 2nd to be induced and i would have the baby sept 3rd. I have never heard of this and dont think its a good idea but just wanted to see what your thoughts were? TIA

He wants to induce you just so he is the one delivering? I am not sure that I would like that either.Chat Icon

I agree. Is there any other doctors in their practice?

Re: What would you do?

My friend just did that... after a GRUELING 24+ of labor, she had to have a c-section...

IMO, I would let nature take its course...

But, how are you with the idea of your Dr. potentially not being there to deliver??

not in his office but he said there is a doctor on call. there used to be a midwife at his office that i loved!!!! But she had another baby and is not practicing there now so its just him. i feel no connection to him and will be looking to switch doctors once this pregnancy is over. i just hope if i got the doctor on call he is good at what he does.

Re: What would you do?

I would probably just let nature take it's course, and hope that the baby didn't come those 2 days. If you have another doctor deliver, it is not the worst thing in the world, they still know what they are doing. Chat Icon

if there's no reason you have to be induced and you have no care if it someone else who delivers then I say just let nature take its course.

who knows.. maybe you'll be late?

Re: What would you do?

I would never agree to be induced to meet someone's schedule.... Being induced IMO should be for purely medical reasons. there's an increased risk of complications from the drugs which outweigh, IMO, the problem of a different physician delivering your baby....
