Re: Having your baby ON your b-day (or another family b-day) YAY OR NAY?

It wouldnt bother me but I'll tell you a story about someone who would tell you NO...

A friend of mine shares the same birthday as her Dad. She had her daughter a few months before her birthday. She was all excited about having her first birthday as a mommy and planned dinner and a cake as they do every year. Her brother was out of town on the actual birthday so the rest of the family wanted to wait to celebrate b/c the whole family wasnt together...which she understood to an extent but she didnt understand why they couldnt of just had 2 celebrations that one time..b/c it was her first as a mommy...then the next year was a milestone birthday for her dad so again she didnt get to do what she wanted to do either...

My OB moved my c-s up a day so that DS and DH had their own bdays.

I dont think I would want my DC on my birthday...not because I want my own day but just because I think its important for everyone to have their own day.

I mean, it's nice to have your birthday to yourself, but at the end of the day (no pun intended), not sure it really matters.

Hospital food as my bday dinner-- well, that I wouldn't like. But, the drugs would be ok!! Chat Icon

I'd say give your baby their own day!

I would NEVER want my DD or other child to have my birthday. But it really is the worst day of the year- DEC. 26Chat Icon People are too tired to celebrate and too poor to buy you presents!

If I would get to choose, I would not choose my birthday. I would want my baby to have it's own special day without sharing it with me or any other close family member.

If you have the choice, pick a different date. I am due 10/15 and Dr. recommended scheduling my CS on 10/8, which is DH's Bday. I asked him to switch it. We are now scheduled for the 10th. If I go into labor on his bday, that's a different story, but since I'm scheduling a CS, might as well let baby have his or her own Bday.

I was born on my great grandma b-day and she was so excited about that she even predicted it I never minded sharing a birthday then plus I have 1 cousin who 1 day before me (a few yrsz younger) and another 2 days after me too (also a few yrs younger) and occasionally we would have a big combined birthday party. I am due 11/28 but baby is most likely coming early we are hoping to make it another 2 months so it would be nice to have her on my birthday in Oct I would love that by then it will be safer too
