OK--we gave in and registered for this:
The Graco SweetPeace Newborn Soothing Center. We found an outlet and plugged it in to see how it ran, and we were REALLY impressed! Hope it's worth the money!  Image Attachment(s):

none of my nephews liked the swing that went front to back - they all liked being rocked from side to side so i really liked that about this one

So cool! I saw this one in the store and fell in love with it. The only problem is that I don't think we'll have much room for it at our house.

We have it and Zach LOVES it now. Every morning he takes a 3 hour nap in it and he hangs with us at the dinner table in the seat.
DEFINITELY worth it. It's amazing!

I registered for this also!
It is suposed to mimic the swaying motion of the mother instead of just swinging back & forth. If you go to the BRU site, they have a demo that you can watch.

I did also and then took it off. This is my reasoning. It is 180. I also registered for Britax car seats and I'd much rather get those(which they will use for yeasrs rather than months) I guess it depends how big your shower will be. I think mine will be 25-30 people so I wanted to put the expensive things on there that I really need. Just another POV
