A cool way to do stripes is to take the same color. Paint a coat of flat on the walls, then tape your stripes and paint in the same color in a gloss. Look gorgeous.

We haven't started the room yet, but this is what I want to do.
We're going to do a chair rail. The top color will be a pretty blue and the bottom will be chocolate brown but in a shadow stripe...the same way as described above.

We were going to do something similar in DDs room, but we got lazy. We were just going to use a clear gloss.

We're doing a chair rail as well, but I think doing the stripes on top....Chat Icon

How did this come out? A friend of mine did it, and you couldn't see the contrast between the stripes. I love the idea, but after all that work I want to be able to see it!

This happens to be the case for me too, but we wanted something more subtle for the living room, for the nursery I'm thinking of doing contrasting colors!
