Think I can convince my MIL...
that Kiernan and Kieran are two different names? I had my heart set on Kieran for a boy and even had semi convinced DH. Stupid man told her even though I said NO SHARING. Of course there is some distant relative that she has problems with this name
Think I could convince her they are different even though they are pretty close?
BTW- my DH is in love with the name Derek. I swear since he loves the Yankees so much everyone is going to think we named our son after Jeter

If that is the name you and DH decide on...then thats what it should be...your MIL has ABSOLUTELY NO SAY in naming YOUR child...trust me...go with YOUR heart and don't let anyone influence you except DH....btw...LOVE the name!!!!!

what's wrong with naming the baby jeter?   
ETA: i love both of those names and i would tell your MIL to shove it (in the nicest way possible) because it's YOUR kid, not hers.

Oh, and trust me, I am not trying to appease my MIL, I just want her on my side to convince DH! Our middle name is set already after DH's Dad who died when he was little. Which sounds awful with Derek- Donald.
I really love Kiernan Donald- now I just have to spin it
