Meeting with RE today

I have an 11am appt with Dr. D. to go over my last failed cycle. I don't know why I am so nervous about this. She said we'll go over my egg sheet and discuss what to do next. I'm just so afraid she'll tell me we are a lost cause. I know that's not the case but I always prepare for the worst.

****update - I met with Dr. D. It went really well. I had been having doubts about her but she really made me and DH feel comfortable and at ease. She even told me she was going over my chart with Dr. B. before my appointment b/c they have no idea why I am not responding the way I should be. We were really on the same page about a lot of things so I feel really good now.

To make a long story short, we have a plan of attack

1. I need to loose 30 pounds She said it may or may not make a difference but, better to loose it anyway. This was on my list of questions for her because, before my cycle in January, I lost 15 pounds. But, between cycles, I was on steroids due to hives and gained it all back. Since I got pg on the cycle in Janaury and nothing on this past one, this was always in the back of my mind. The only problem is....I only have 3 months to do this! She doesn't want to wait much longer b/c of DH's problems and b/c, she said if I set a longer goal, I won't be a serious. She's totally right.

2. I'm going to take metformin. She said it could definatley help my egg quality and may even help me loose weight. She said some studies have even shown that when it's continued while PG, it could reduce m/c rates. I was on it when I did my first cycle where I got pg with DS. Now I wish I would have said something to her about this before my last cycle. Oh well.

3. I'm going to go back to the menopur. This past cycle I was on follistim and repronex. She said since I got pg with the menopur, we'll go back to that. I did mention to her that I also got pg with DS on the first cycle with just follistim but, since that was 3 years ago, we'll go with what worked last. So, I'll be starting iwth 6 amps a day!

4. I'm going to stim a little longer. I usually get about 11 eggs but not many mature ones and she can't figure out why. All my follicles are in the 15-20 range and they should have mature eggs but they don't. They let me stim an extra day this cycle but it didn't help. Didn't hurt either so she wants me to go one more day.

So, in a nutshell, that's my plan. Oh boy. A lot to take in and DH is just lost. I have to explain it all to him tonight

I feel a lot better now and I know, the next one will work! I just need to get my butt in gear and loose the weight!

Hey don't think that way!!! Ask her what SHE plans on doing differently, she must have a game plan- otherwise she wouldn't have made plans to meet w/ you! Good luck sweetie!!! Can't wait to hear how it went!

You can do it!! All of it sounds very good. 3 months is going to pass very quickly and once you get in a routine with the weight loss you will start feeling really good about yourself. WW online really helps me be accountable. Actually, I think I will start doing it again (after the GTG ) to keep me busiy this 2ww. Also the diet and fitness section of LIF is very inspiring and there is a lot of good motivation on there. FTR Dr. K has told me that he much prefers the menopur to the repronex, he says it is a "purer" form of the same thing and people tend to have less adverse effects from the menopur. I definitely feel good about all of this. This is going to work for you!!!

I hope you feel better, because it now sounds like a very doable plan! I'm on Metformin and if you want any advice on it, feel free to send me FM. I've been on it for years and it's not an issue.
