It is very common, my SIL and close friend both had it. They will just monitor you closely and might restrict you on a few things. Many times, it corrects on its own once you pass a certain point in pregnancy. My friend's did not correct, but she still went on to have a healthy baby, so don't worry. Chat Icon

Re: Placenta Previa

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Usually if you have a partial previa it will move by your next sono and you will go on to have a normal delivery. If it does not move you may have to have a c-section.

I unfortunatly have a complete previa.
I am on pelvic rest and was informed that I must not lift anything, do any kind of movements that may add any kind of pressure, and need to abstain from having s e x until I have my next sono appointment at 28 weeks.
They told me that if at the 28 week sono the placenta hasn't moved I will be placed on strict bed rest for the balance of the pregnancy.

I really do not think you have anything to worry about with a partial previa. You should be fine.

Re: Placenta Previa

I had it at 14 weeks with lots of bleeding they said if you have it before 28 weeks it usually moves up by itself my placenta moved up after 18 weeks and all is fine now but dont freak out if you start bleeding but if there is alot go get checked out to make sure things are OK I needed to make several trips to L&D b/c of bleeding so hang in there I am sure it move up soon or later

Re: Placenta Previa

a man I ride the LIRR with's wife has placenta previa. Now, keep in mind she's 25 weeks AND expecting twins. She's been on light bedrest for the past two weeks. She is done working (works in the schools). From what he's told me, normally with 1 child, the placenta will move, but with twins its doubtful. Hope this helps.

I have a question.

Is there any symptoms to know you have this? Or is only seen during a sono?

Thanks!

Typically they see this during the sono. The only symptom you may have is bleeding.

Re: Placenta Previa

I didn't have any symptoms.. I am actually feeling great these days..(aside from being constantly tired) no bleeding.. no weird feelings.. and on my last sonogram about 4 weeks ago there was no sign of it... So i was taken sompletly by suprise.. never a dull moment with this child..

Re: Placenta Previa

They found the same thing at my 16 week appointment. Doc said 90-95% chance it well move. My next appointment (20 weeks appointment) is this Thursday so I am hoping it moved! If not, I think I get placed on pelvic rest and checked more frequently to see if it moves. If it doesn't move by the end, I'll have a c-section 3-4 weeks before my due date.

I also had (and have) no symptoms at all.
