Going on a boat when pregnant...
I'm 6 months pregnant and my fil wants us to go out on his boat tonight. Is it safe?

Re: Going on a boat when pregnant...
My dr told me that he didn't reccomend it due to all of the possible bouncing around. He said there was always a chance of premature labor. But that was just my Dr... another Dr might say something different.

Re: Going on a boat when pregnant...
Id be the wrong person to ask. I don't go on boats when I am NOT PG as I get severe motion sickness.

Re: Going on a boat when pregnant...
I guess it depends on the size of the boat and what type of seas you are going on. We went away with my parents, but they have a pretty large boat and the seas were calm. Even if they weren't, as long as I wasn't walking around there wasn't much more bouncing then walking or sitting in the car.

Re: Going on a boat when pregnant...
Stef - I went out on the boat a couple of times. As long as it isn't going to be rough out - you will be fine. What we used to do is drive down to the water and see how rough it was.
Honestly though, I have a feeling with the storms and stuff today - it might be a little rough

Depends on the boat and weather.
I would make sure you have a life jacket on. Swimming while PG is different especially if thrown overboard.

It's probably going to be rough b/c the weather - and if it is nice enough, it'll be rough b/c it's a holiday and everyone and their mother will be out on the water. I would skip it

Re: Going on a boat when pregnant...
i'm 8 1/2 months pregnant and i'm going on my sisters boat tomorrow. i also went around this time with my 1st pregnancy and had no problems. they have a pretty big fishing boat and as long as it's not rough i think it will be okay. she knows that if i'm not feeling well i might need to come back in and that's okay with them.

Re: Going on a boat when pregnant...
My doctor said that he does NOT recommend it! He said why risk it- you can be bounced around and risk falling! He saud theres no way he'd let his wife on one while pregnant, so there was good enough for me!!

Re: Going on a boat when pregnant...
My last pregnancy, I went out on my IL's boat all the way through the end of my pregnancy. This pregnancy I've been going too.
