Dexamethasone
Has anyone taken this during their IVF cycle? What should I expect? I just looked up some info on it and now I'm scared to take it

Re: Dexamethasone
I didn't look up any info on anything I took - I would have been a wreck. I suggest just blindly following the doctor's orders!!
I took Dexamethasone every night once I started stimming. I took it right before bed every night until I triggered. I didn't really notice any side effects.

Re: Dexamethasone
Great! I started reading up on it (cause I had no idea what it was) and freaked myself out! Any idea why they put you on this while you're stimming? To redue inflammation?

Re: Dexamethasone
According to my "medication information" book from LIIVF, it is because "it prevents early androgen and progesterone rises which may be detrimental to oocyte quality."

Re: Dexamethasone
LOL- you're so funny- I did the same thing. When I got my med info from Schraft's I looked thru each medication to find out when it said to take them, etc--- then I drew up a detailed calendar and marked which ones should be taken at certain times- my nurse made it a point to tell me that this one she be taken 'before bed'. I told DH I'm thinking it's because I could feel sick from it (though that may not be the reason at all) and I hoped to take it and then go right to sleep and hopefully fall asleep before any side effects kick in I made a deal w/ myself though- I have my IVF folder that I put in my tote and leave in my car when I go out (and bring in my house when I'm home) and my plan is to not look at the side effects again since the day I got my meds in the mail (early last week) unless need be...but to have them on me just in case

The BEST advice ever...sometimes the internet can do more harm than good.
