Question for th c/s moms??
If you have a c/s the 1st time does that mean you automatically have to have one the 2nd time around? Or can you opt to try for a v-birth?

Re: Question for th c/s moms??
You can try for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-section) as long as you did not have a transverse cut - meaning they cut your uterus up and down inside of across like with the more common bikini cut.
Real emergency c/s sometimes result in a transverse cut but most are the low bikini cut. With the transverse cut there is a higher risk of uterine rupture if you attempt a VBAC. There is still risk with a bikini cut but it is significantly lower so many women do opt for a VBAC. You might have to look a little hard for a doctor willing to do it, but VBAC is becoming more and more popular so it won't be too hard.

Re: Question for th c/s moms??
Thanks, I was just curious with all the talk of c/s lately. I had a v-birth so I was clueless about this.

Alot of doctors refuse the vbac. I really wanted one. But as sonn as I was told that they were twins I knew they weren't even going to chance it. And they didn't.

Re: Question for th c/s moms??
You can fight for your right to VBAC. You don't need to accept one doctors "refusal"...it is your body and your consent that is needed. I have a ton of info on how to evulate a doctor's support of a VBAC..having a c/s does NOT mean you are broken and unable to birth a baby vaginally. Unless you have real medical conditions that prevent you from a v-birth in the first place or the true emergecy cut you can have a VBAC. In fact even with the transversal cut there are women who VBAC. You need to know your rights and stand up for them.

Re: Question for th c/s moms??
I asked my Dr when she came to examine me the next day if a VBAC was possible with my next pregnancy. She said as long as your baby doesnt put up a fight like this one there is no reason why you couldnt have a VBAC.

Re: Question for th c/s moms??
i had a csection the first time and my obgyn would not allow a vbac, he said the risk was too high for a uterine rupture. so i had two csections. and i have to say, they were perfect. no pain, fast recovery. i would have a 3 as well.
