HSG test
Is it painful? How long does it take? I have to get one done and I am nervous.

When I had mine, it was over very quickly. I know everyone is different but the only pain I felt was when they put the dye in-it felt like extremely bad AF cramps.

I had off that day because I wasn't sure what to expect. I would say take half a day in case you feel crampy afterwards.

i had it done and it hurt. I know some of us keep that factoid to ourselves. I didn't think it was going to hurt like it did, but if I ever have it done again, I will ask for pain killers.
Some ladies have very little discomfort..go figure.
I took the rest of the day off and was crampy for a few days afterwards.
I hope you are in the group that has very little discomfort.

I had it done and it didn't hurt at all, I didn't even get any cramping. I was just uncomfortable for the speculum being in for so long when the radiologist went to go make sure the pictures developed ok.
I took a few advil about an hour beforehand.

samething with me!but i took painkillers before i went and it still hurt and i was pretty crampy. i had a lot of discomfort keeping my fingers crossed you dont feel a thing!!!

I had this done and took 2 Alleve before leaving the house. I was told that it was so painful. Honestly, it was a bit more uncomfortable than a pap smear. I wouldn't say that it hurt. But I am guessing that everyone is different. My advice is to take something before you go and bring a pad with you. I didn't spot or cramp but the contrast leaks out after. I would say you could work the am of the procedure and then just take it easy after "just in case". Good Luck!

If you do a search on here, there is tons of info and experiences.
Mine was not bad at all. There was pain for about 5 minutes but nothing I could not handle. I took Alleve 45 minutes prior.

I am with Susan on this, mine hurt also. It was quick, I will say that, but it was painful for like 3-4 minutes. Soon as they were done, I was fine. I drove myself there and back.
