I've actually never heard of a sprinkle until this site, and I've had a LOT of friends and families have babies. A LOT. 
I think it really depends on your family and friends. Not everyone's family and friends see things the same way. If your family will embrace a sprinkle, go for it!

I think its fine. I told my mom i dont care if i have one or not but I know I will get many gifts from family members. I have almost everything i need right now b/c DS was born just one year ago. all i need are clothes b/c I am having a baby girl.

I never heard about sprinkles until now and in my pregnant brain i'm thinking- she want's to know if she can have sprinkles on her cupcake?
I think it's a great idea! Enjoy it and have fun! The people that go are the ones who want to be there bc they love you.

same here, only heard on this site. I think my family would be alot like yours. They get annoyed easily if one person has too many parties.

I think it's Great! Why should your second child be second best? Especially, if it is going to be close friends and family.

I also never heard of a "sprinkle" till this site. My family wouldn't go for it, but they don't go for engagement parties either. My bridal shower only had 15 guests, so when someone says "it will be small, only like 20 or 30 people" I can't imagine what a "real" shower would be! My sister is really into having parties for EVERYTHING and honestly, people (my family) tend to get resentful. I think people will shower you and your new baby with gifts regardless of weather or not you have an official gathering, but like other posters said, you will get lots of differing opinions on this and you should do what you feel comfortable with!

I say definetly since they are so many years inbetween children.
I am not having one...I don't want one. I am having another girl and I have so much clothes from Hayley (some with tags) that I don't need anything.

JMO, but I don't like the idea at all.
I think it's presumptuous to ask people to come and give gifts again. Again, that's just my opinion. As a previous poster said, it's kinda like a bridal shower--I think it's GREAT for a 1st marriage but for a second one I would kind of  .

I say go for it..My mom threw me a sprinkle but made me feel horible for having one that I didnt even enjoy it and now for this baby..My good friend wanted to do something for me and I asked her not to just because I didnt want the grief..I feel every baby should be celebrated and how ever you want to do that is up to you and enjoy it..

Well, I guess when I post pics from my sprinkle in September, I won't get many comments on it.
My son is 3 and I'm having another boy AND a sprinkle in September.
I love em!!
