he just doesnt get it...vent
So I am going through this horrible morning sickness...that lasts all day...and I have only found a few temporary solutions so far...for the past two days I have been having a bagel with creamcheese for lunch just to keep my stomach settled for a bit...well just had my bagel, still feeling sick...dh called..asked how I was doing AGAIN(how many times can I tell him I'm sick)...then he proceeds to lecture me on how I need to eat more fruits and veggies...and have I tried drinking any OJ or berry juice...he says a bagel has no nutritional value....I wanted to punch him through the phone ...like I'm an idiot and I don't know whats good for me and the baby??? So then I start crying because I'm so mad, then I feel guilty about "depriving" my baby of nutrients, then I'm just crying because I'm sick...I should have just let the phone go to voicemail....ok...I feel better now....he really has been a saint, but I could have done without his "advice" today...thanks for listening girls

i am sorry sweetie it is SO hard for guys to understand what we go through, especially early on when there is no belly and only a bunch of random, awful symptoms that we have to suffer through... i am sure he meant well but he needs to know that it is NOT okay to make you feel guilty about this.
your baby will take all the nutrients it needs from whatever food you can keep down, and the prenatals, if you are able to take them. BABY takes first, MOMMY gets the rest - so really, you are doing your child no harm. some food is better than no food. plus bagels DO have nutritional value, and there is a lot of calcium in cream cheese.
it will get better, i promise

Aw, I'm sorry. Don't stress about it right now. Just eat what you can. I lived off of bagels and grilled cheeses, the first trimester. I had whole wheat bagels and grilled cheeses with whole wheat to make myself feel it was a little nutritious. I was able to have some fruit, but really couldn't stomach any vegetables. It
It is really hard for our guys to understand. Mine didn't get my exhaustion at all. For the first few weeks he complained about me passing out so crazy early and always wanting to nap. He wanted to hang out with me more and get out of the house together. He finally got it when one day we were in Best Buy and I totally looked like I was going to pass out. I could barely keep my eyes open and he looked so worried. He sat me down somewhere while he finished and took me home to nap. After that, he didn't complain anymore. It will get better!!!

Oh Honey...I'm here with you .......My Dh was saying the same thing last night and I got so upset that I forced myself to eat some salad....wellllllllllll
10 minutes later I puked it all up
Lets just say he appologized and ahsn't said anythign else.
All I can keep down is bread, crackers, and vanilla or chocolate ice cream with fresh strawberries....So thats what I'm eating.......
There is no nutritional value in eating a salad and then throwing it up.......
Hang in there.....they just don't get it some times............

Hang in there, it's hard for them to get it, you just have to eat whatever you can whether you have to live on icecream the entire time, we all do what we have to to just avoid getting more sick!
It gets better!!!!

Re: he just doesnt get it...vent
I think sometimes the men just dont get it. I was sick and nauseous all day long for the first few weeks and now I am still sick but only one or two times per week. Dont worry if you're sick, just try to take your vitamins. The baby will take everything it needs from your system, so it will just drain you. A lot of people cant seem to keep anything down in the beginning, so I wouldnt get too worried. I hope you feel better really soon and I'm sure your DH will be understanding your sickness soon enough!

My DH is ALWAYS on my back about what I am eating. Are you taking a prenatal? If you're keeping that down, you are in good 1st trimester shape. Remember that some women can't hold down ANYTHING--I survived on prenatal vitamins, bialies and mcdonald's french fries for several weeks. Hang in there...

Eat what you can, when you can. DH has backed off a TON this pregnancy- mostly since he saw having ice cream every day produced our wonderful DC the last time But he still doesn't get it- I actually remind him sometimes, you know I am pregnant right?
