Wanna chuckle?
I just found the bills from my birth on August 3, 1970.
Mom paid:
$130 for anesthesia. (mind you she had a tubal ligation as well as a vaginal delivery)
$145/wk for a home nurse for 2 weeks
I think I posted the regular bill one time before but:
5 days in the nursery @ $25/day
5 days in maternity ward @ $90/day
Insurance covered $80
L and D room $120
This is from Beth Israel Hosp. In Manhattan. Shoot, I could pay out of pocket if those prices applied today couldn't you?

That is CRAZY!!!!!! 
But I'd be willing to be that was no small change back then! (Not in ANY WAY saying that your birth was "back then"...hmm...how do I talk my way outta this one?)
