FOUND pitbull in Lindy
My coworker found a pit in Lindenhurst on Saturday - actually, the doggy found HER! She was walking out to her car to go out and as soon as she got in the car, this little guy jumped right up into her lap!
He's collared, but no tags. She took him to her vet - he's not microchipped. She took him in, fed him, and is housing him in her gazebo. She already has 4 large dogs, so she can't bring him into the house.
We already posted on Craigslist, she called Newsday, local vets and shelters.... nothing.
She doesn't want to disclose too much info because she doesn't want this sweet dog to wind up in the wrong hands. She's hoping the owner will be able to tell her the dog's coloring, collar info, name, etc. She won't release him to just anyone, and she doesn't want to bring him to the shelter because they told her they'll only keep him for 7 days, then they'll have to "take care of him".
Please keep your eyes and ears open - someone is missing a pet!

I understand your friend's concern, but if you don't post any information about the dog, you may not get many inquiries.
I hope she can find either the owners (if they're responsible) or a good home for the pup.

The guy at K-9 bathhouse just got a pitbull puppy 2 weeks ago..not sure if it came from there but that is located in Lindy too!
Best of luck finding the owner and I will be on the lookout for any signs or posters...If I see anything I will FM you!!
That was so of your coworker to take it in until you can find the owner.

Little shelter send me an email of Lost/Found pets. Unfortunately, I deleted it.
There was a dog missing in lindenhurst, I kind of remember it being a pitbull too.
But I could be remembering it wrong, probably worth a phone call though ...631-368-8770

What sheltar will you bring it to? If you dont find the owner, Please take it to Bideawee. I believe that they are a no kill sheltar.

I like to post signs on poles and also near schools. This seems to be the best way for families to find their pet. You are right not to give to much info. You do not want someone claiming to be the owner comming for him or her. Let them tell you what the dog looks like and and what color the collar is. I would say you found a pit and let them tell you the rest good luck
