Did anyone not have a Level II?
My next appointment is in 3 weeks and I'm having a sono. I'll be almost 16 weeks then. The doctor said that's when they'll do a full anatomy scan. I asked if this was a Level II and she said no. She said b/c of my age (29 tomorrow ) and the fact that there appear to be no medical problems, I won't have a Level II. The Level II is done at an outside location, but the one I'm having will be done at my doctor's office. I found out I'll also have a sono at 33/34 weeks to check the growth of the baby.
Did anyone not have a Level II, but had something similar to what I'm having? Is there much of a difference?

Re: Did anyone not have a Level II?
I could be very wrong about this, but I assumed everyone was given a level II between 18-22 weeks regardless of age/issues?
I am curious to know! Everyone I know had one done, I thought they were routine...

Re: Did anyone not have a Level II?
The only reason I had a level II was because of other (unexplained) health issues (non baby related) and my doctor is very conservative. In essence, the level II seemed like a sono with a full anatomy scan (measuring all parts, etc) so I am sure there is not much of a difference. If anything pops up on your next sono, I'm sure they'll look further into it. No worries!
Also, I'm getting the impression that they do things a little different here in CT than on LI. It seems like docs on LI offer everything to everyone, and I don't think it's the same here based on my experience and the experience of some of my friends.
BTW, where will you be delivering?

Re: Did anyone not have a Level II?
As far as I know the Level II is the full anatomical scan, so i'm not sure why your Dr. is saying that it isn't. I'm also in my late twenties and have no risk factors, but was certainly told that this was something that I would be having and did have. You can have the Level II anywhere from 18-22 weeks. I guess your Dr. just does things differently. I'm also having a growth sono between 28-31 weeks.

Re: Did anyone not have a Level II?
My doctor does an initial anatomy scan at about 16 weeks (I go for mine this Friday) and a follow-up anatomy scan (level II) at about 20 weeks. They also do growth sonos later on. I think some places tend to skip the first one and just do one scan at 18-22 weeks.

I guess every doctor is different, I thought everyone went for a Level II. I'm 26 and planning on having it done in July
