I hate Madonna Perinatal!!!

Bit of a rant:

I am seeing Dr. Mackenzie, along with my regular OB, because of hypertension. My home monitoring this week has yielded some pretty high - ok, dangerously high - readings. I spoke with my OB's office today and 'fessed up, and they told me to promptly call Dr. Mac's office. I explained my situation to the receptionist, who informed me that he was off, and then tried to hang up on me! I stopped her, and asked her what the usual protocol is when a hypertensive patient gets such readings. She sounded completely p*ssed off with me, sighed, and said she would check D. Mac's schedule. I was literally put on hold for TWENTY minutes - no coming back to ask me to keep holding, no apologies, nothing. I hung up, called back, and re-introduced myself. I was admonished and put down, and told I just had to wait my turn!!! I asked if there was another doctor on, if there was someone I could perhaps get an appointment with or get a call back from. She was so nasty, and put me on hold for another FIFTEEN minutes before I hung up and called my usual OB back.

Bear in mind: this is a high-risk specialist office! They deal with women in critical situations every day. The fact that I was treated like this was unbelievable! I explained the situation to my OB's receptionist, and I told her that I will not be using Madonna anymore, that it is silly that a high risk doctor's office would be so unwilling to help.

(Fast forward to the fact that my OB admitted me to Winthrop for today.)

First of All, I hope you are feeling better. And OMG, How horrible! Unacceptable in my book!!! I would speak to the Office manager or Doctor and Complain. I am still seeing a RE and all of the nurses have been great with returning phone calls etc. I am nervous when I finally do get released to an OBGYN. I am hoping that their staff is as proficient.

Wow, what location was that? I go to Madonna in Babylon for high risk issues and they are wonderful there. I have heard that the Babylon and Mineola office are like night and day though.

I hope I dont experience anything like this with them. Soooooo sorry you had to deal with the BS.

first off, did you ever manage to get in touch with your Dr? I'm most worried that you have this hypertension and it isn't being properly professionally monitored

As for the rest of this scenario... switch Dr's. But also contact the Dr and tell him exactly what happened (including date / time / name of receptionist), and tell him this caused you to switch practices.

Seriously, she found the perfect way to treat a high risk patient with hypertension problems

To answer a few questions: it was the Mineola office.

Yes, I did get in touch with my doctor. He met me at the hospital, and I spent all day there. I will be seeing him again Monday. This was my first experience with Winthrop, and I was very impressed. They were not only warm and friendly, but incredibly attentive and thorough.

I go there too and really do find that office hit or miss. I love MacKenzie but the staff is very hit or miss!

That office makes me nutty sometimes too! I've been ****** at them before as well (they took everyone that came in before and after me for an hour and half and couldn't explain why I wasn't taken...after questioning them twice I walked out)! It seems like some of the ladies behind the desk aren't very happy. One has told me she can't wait until she leaves at the end of the summer. I have found that you really have to be your own advocate there and that being a highly informed patient helps.

That is completely unacceptable!!!!!!

If you continue to go to that office you need to tell the OB about that experience they are liable if their reception staff is like that and you have a complication. I would think they would want to know their staff is doing that.

I'm glad you are getting it taken care of and hope the hypertension gets back under control. I'm so sorry that you had this issue and hope you consider looking for a new maternal fetal dr.

you know they changed their staff and they are completely RUDE that I am telling my dr tues when I see him.

they put you on hold after asking some info- your name and have you been there before- for a very long time!
they are NOT friendly you walk in they ignore you, if you say good morning - nothing they dont say a word and continue to talk to themselves.

I am def going to complain b/c its rude and I have always had good experiences there until now.

awww that really stinks you had a bad experience with that Doctor's office. It's terrible how they treated you! I hope you've found a better doctor! good luck!
