Really stupid question about IVF...
When you say "the first IVF did not work" and you are going for a second, does that mean you have to pay the whole 12K (or so) AGAIN?
I am 99% sure the answer is yes. But DH and I only will have one shot at this...12K will be rough to get together but when and if we do, after that we will have nothing.
I just we even have a shot at IVF to begin with!

It depends, if you have embryos left from your 1st cycle then you can do a FET, which does cost some $ but not as much as a whole cycle.
If you didn't have any embies left from your 1st cycle, then you have to do everything over from start to finish and that will be the 12k or whatever your clinic charges

I would 'think' the answer would be no (though I'm just getting ready to start my first IVF so what do I know -lol). The reason I'd guess no is it would depend on whether or not you have extra embryos - in which case you'd be doing a FET. And if you're doing one of them then I don't think you use the stims, but there are other meds involved.

Re: Really stupid question about IVF...
OK I am starting to understand now thanks! I guess this is good news right? I wonder if it matters if we are dealing with MF only. I assume I would be producing a "good" amount of embryos then? Or maybe I sound totally stupid...going for my first RE visit on Monday.

Re: Really stupid question about IVF...
Depends on your issues. If you have high FSH or are a poor responder and aren't producing eggs, you may not get that many and won't have any to freeze. Otherwise, all things being equal you should have some to freeze so you can try again at a fraction of the cost.

Re: Really stupid question about IVF...
You can also look into the outcome based plans which give you up to 6 tries but you need about 18-20k for that. I would also look at the NY state grant
