Cat owners
So about once a year our lap cat turns into a crazy cat. He starts hissing and growling and making that loud cat fight screetching noise that you hear in the backyard in the middle of the night. No reason for it, nothing provoked this behavior.I have no idea why he did it but I was petrified to go near him. He got himself caught somewhere and I tried to go near him to help and he got so scared he starte yelling louder and the more I helped the madder/more scared he was until he peed and pooped on the floor.
It's out of nowhere though and then the next day, today he is back to snuggleing up against us?
I'm very confused by this.

Re: Cat owners
If it came and went out of nowhere, it could be that something freaked him out. It might have been an animal or something outside that came near your house and your cat got scared and/or territorial. If it happens again, I'd check with the vet, but I know that sometimes cats get very upset when they sense another animal is nearby...

Re: Cat owners
That's a great idea but it happened to me. I walked up to the bed and slowely pulled the covers back because that is where he likes to sleep. He jumped about 3 feet in the air, did the cat yell, landed then hissed and took off running. AT the time it happened, I was the only one in the house. I went to look for him and he continued this behavior towards me so I left him alone. I left him alone, went to a meeting, came back and he was the same way for another couple of hours. It wasn't until this morning that he was fine. Fine like nothing even happened fine. LOL

Re: Cat owners
Espresso does that in the night sometimes...not to the point that he's gotten stuck...but he freaks out for a good 1/2 hour and then goes back to normal. I wouldn't worry too much if he goes back to normal. But, if it got more frequent I would check with the vet cuz it might be hypothyroidism (my mom's cat has it).
