What should I expect at my paperwork appointment?
I have a paperwork appointment on Thursday. I'm pretty sure I'm meeting with someone other than my regular OB/GYN. I know I'm having the finger prick part of the first trimester screening done that day. I also know it's supposed to be a long appointment. I assume they ask questions about my family history. Did anyone have this type of appointment? What type of questions do they ask? TIA.

Re: What should I expect at my paperwork appointment?
i don't know exactly what you mean... when i was 8 weeks the nurse sat down with me with a checklist and asked me about my family history to see what i needed to be tested for when they sent me for bloodwork at 10 weeks. but then i met with my regular doc. it wasn't any longer than a regular appointment really.
the ultrascreen i had at 12 weeks was a sono and a fingerprick test. then i had my AFP at 16 weeks, that was a vial of blood.
sorry i can't be of more help!!

Re: What should I expect at my paperwork appointment?
My doctor splits up the first trimester appointments into 3 or 4 different ones. The first one was basically a regular exam and she sent me for bloodwork. The next one was a sono. Now I have the "paperwork" appointment. This is supposed to be a long appointment (they said they block off two appointment slots for it). I assume they go over my bloodwork from a few weeks ago and ask me family history questions. I just wasn't sure what type of questions they'd ask and whether they'd need to know about DH's family history. I just want to be prepared b/c I have a feeling I may be giving a lot of "I don't know" answers.

Re: What should I expect at my paperwork appointment?
At my second appt that was long paperwork appt. I sat with the nurse going over mine and DH's medical history as well as mine and DH's family history. She asked questions like does anyone have diabetis, are their any known cases of birth defects in the immediate family, history of down syndrom, etc... We were together for a while. Then after the history stuff we went over tests, which ones I wanted to do, which ones I needed to do and what tests are done at what times. Then we went over what to expect at my next few appointments.
After meeting with her I met with the midwife. The midwife basically recapped everything I had gone over with the nurse and if I had any questions. Then she the fun baby appointment. Listened to the heartbeat, gave me my papers for bloodwork and sent me on my way.
I was probably in the office for about 2 hours.

Re: What should I expect at my paperwork appointment?
Mine was not split like this but my first appointment was very long and included an exam/sono (I was already 9 weeks) and lots and lots of questions about family history on both sides (mine and DHs) and then bloodwork. I assume they will ask about your medical history, as well as DH's and then that of your respective families.
Hadn't seen you around in a few days, was going to FM you to make sure all way well!
