My parents have their African Gray for 18 years. I consider him mine as well especially since someday he will be with me when they move. I miss him sometimes but he is extremely noisy. He always gave me away when I tried to sneak in late at night after curfew!!!! He imitates many sounds and does talk. He is very loud. I remember bringing him to school when I was in 9th grade in my art class for people to draw him. He is a huge responsibility though. Oh, and there is no way he would be able to recite his name and address. Well, he does say his name, Dusty, but that wouldn't be very helpful!

My grandparents have one for ober 20 years maybe even 30....they thought it was a boy for about half of the time until she laid an egg!

I have a Timneh African Grey. He picks up Everything. Him and Porter, our 70 lb pit mix, are like best friends. Sometimes i go inside and i see Porter licking the bottom of the cage. I look inside and the Templeton, My African Grey is on the bottom of the cage and they are actually kissing throuhg the cage. IT's so cute.

Yes, they are a very long commitment. My parents' African Gray is 19 and I have a different species of parrot and he is 18.

we have one named eistein after the show talented pets. he will be 2 in december and is very funny, he does a few words now and seems to be picking up more and more everyday. he doesn't like me though, they say they only attach to one person.
we are also watching our friend's parrot, he usually says a lot at home but he's not used to it here. sometimes he will say "let's go mets"
