Prenatal Vitamins

Back at my 8 week appt. I was given 2 scripts- 1 for premisis and 1 for primacare.

I filled both and when I picked them up I asked the pharmacist if I was supposed to take both. She told me they both had the same ingrediants and I should just take one.

I go to the Dr. today and was told I was supposed to take both.

I feel so bad. Like I totally messed up. The Dr. said it wasnt a big deal, but I feel guilty!

I wouldn't think you needed to take both either - did your doc say why they prescribed double dosage?

(i take primacare and that's all I take)

That is odd.... you should really double check with your Dr... if the ingredients are the same, you really SHOULDN'T be taking both.

It's dangerous to get too much vit A in pregnancy (can cause birth defects). a prenatal usually has 50% of our USRDA... but if you take TWO, then you get 100%... and any food you eat will send you over the edge with vit A.... especially if it's from an animal source (vs beta carotene)

Wow you have to take both!!! I take the primacare and their are 2 large pills in there, one for morning and one for night.
Don't feel guilty especially since you are taking 2 different prenatals when most just take 1! Most would have done the same thing.

Thanks girls! The Dr. said that the premisis is just a supplement and should be taken with the primacare 1 that he prescribed. Im not going to worry about it. Theres nothing I can do now. I am just going to be taking the primacare since the other was an anti-nausea one.
