Puppy sleeping on wee wee pad?
FH and I just got a havanese, she's 10 weeks old. We're trying to wee wee pad train her since she can't go outside because she hasn't had all her shots. Well you know how dogs won't go to the bathroom where they sleep? She started sleeping on her pad! Now she won't go to the bathroom on it. Any ideas on what I can do?

I would take her outside. She doesn't need all her shots to go out. I would only be concerned if you were taking her to a place frequented by other dogs like a dog park.
We never used wee wee pads with Katie, we brought her outside from the begining.
BTW- THat sounds so cute. LOL

We never used wee wee pads with Katie, we brought her outside from the begining.
BTW- THat sounds so cute. LOL
Thanks! It's only cute when I'm not cleaning up after her on my wood floor! We don't have our own yard (we live in a coop in queens) so everywhere I can take her is frequented by dogs. Can i still take her outside? The vet seemed to think it wasn't a good idea and told me not until July

I was told the same thing, but then I learned that she is only in danger with other dogs that don't have their shots. Dogs that are fully vaccinated are fine to be around. The only problem is that you don't know who has been vaccinated and who hasn't. She is a small dog, so I'm sure you could pick her up real fast if a strange dog came by you. I hated the wee wee pads and only did them for about 2 weeks. I cut her off cold turkey, and she is doing good. Only a few accidents. To tell you the truth she hated to poop on the wee wee pads. SHe would run and poop in a corner. Peeing wasn't a problem. I would just bring her outside if you can. The problem with the wee wee pads is they learn to go in the house. When I first took them away she started running to carpets or towels and peeing on them.

Abby did the same thing with wee wee pads. She would just snuggle on top of them. We just made sure she went outside all the time bc otherwise she would pee on my area rug

Thanks for all your responses  I'm just nervous taking her outside because we live in a really crowded area and there are tons of dogs that use the area for their business.

Jess, we don't use wee-wee pads, but what if you put down 2... one to sleep on one to pee on. Could work?
