Why is everything so expensive!!
We just got an estimate for the coping/brink around our pool for $7500, the driveway is $1500, the deck we are building is $3000 and GAS is $3.80 a gallon.....WHEN DO WE GET A BREAK

7500? what is the breakdown? How many square feet do you need for coping? How much for labor? coping is just the trim. It can't be that much.
I would get a breakdown and then call up brick/stone yards and get price quotes on your own for the brick and then find someone to lay it for you. I would also call up other companies as well.

I'm not sure how big the deck you're building is but I know ours (which is a pretty decent size) cost us $3,000 in materials alone!
My husband built it himself so there was no labor charge.

Pavers are expensive. The cheapest quote I got was $8 a square foot.
If you go to a place like Lowes... even their cheapest pavers are close to 3-4 a square foot and that's just for the brick. Doesn't include any prep or labor.

DW and I joke that everything for a house is in the THOUSANDS of dollars. Sadly, you will get used to hearing those crazy numbers and they won't even phase you after a while.

I am completely with you on this one. We got an estimate for siding just for our 12x12 shed - $1,500  . We are just painting the shingles for now and we will do the shed when we reside the house. It's hard to stick to a budget with how high prices are.

Oh my God ! I feel the exact same way. We have someone coming to give us an estimate for refacing our fire place and I just KNOW it's going to be 5k +
