According to my insurance...
East Coast Fertiltiy isn't an in-network dr. However both RS of NY and LI-IVF are--- even though I have no IVF coverage. I figure I should stick w/ an in network dr either way so that in case they code things a certain way and I would be covered... I'll be able to actually take advantage of that rather than having to pay my outrageous out of network provider deductilble.
I called this morning and made an appointment with Dr. Kenigsberg. The earliest appointment they could give me was May 21st I was hoping to get going with this sooner... I asked if they would call me if they got any cancellations and could I also call from time to time in case they didn't get the chance to call me- so that's what I'm going to do. They also gave me the # of the woman who deals with the NYS grants- and I put a message in at her office so I'm waiting for a call back.

I think that was a good idea. If they start your cycle as IUI then you will be covered for that, there is no reason to pay out of network costs when there are doctors in the area that will take your insurance.

I agree with Lauren.
I know that May 21st seems like a million years away, but it will be here before you know it! I actually have that day circled on my calendar because that would be the first possible day of my embyo transfer for this upcoming IVF cycle.
Trust me, it will go quickly!

Re: According to my insurance...
Glad you made the call. I know when I switched to my new RE it took about a month to get an appointment, which was annoying. But, sometimes its nice to just not have to have all that monitoring and driving etc... Just relax for the next 3 weeks. Try to enjoy this time, because it will be crazy from that point on.
Time will fly. Just keep busy with projects.

Yes, definatley go with in network. It will save you some money.
I would also make an appointment with RS of NY. Do a consultation with each and see which you like better.
May 21st really isn't that far away. It will be here before you know it.
Keep on top of the grant info lady. I had to call a couple times to get in touch with her. She'll probably just tell you the requirements to be eligable and send you an application. The grant approval process is really quick though. I knew within a week of sending my application that I was approved.

Re: According to my insurance...
If your not covered for IVF through your insurance, it makes no difference if they ar ein network or out. Nothings covered period ( I worked in insurance)
So in that case, I would go with whoever is the cheapest.
My IVF was upwards of 10K more then a friend of mines..so differnt places do charge different amounts.
The grant is your best bet.
We got 65% I think covered under the grant..maybe 70% and we paid about $8K out of pocket for the entire IVF. ( meds included)

Re: According to my insurance...
I had to wait about three weeks for my appointment with him too. Did you ask about seeing Dr Brenner or Dr Droesch? or you could call the other offices and see if there are appointments earlier in other locations.
