Just talked to my RE...
The past few days have been really hectic and his assistant is out of the office today as well as this past Friday. I called my dr on thurs night, got the answering service who was very nasty to me (3 different times trying to get my lab results) then called friday, spoke w/ the fill in and she had the head nurse call me back. I spoke w/ her and she told me she'd have my dr call me back.... he never did. I missed a call from their office around 1:00 friday afternoon on my HOME phone, even though I've always given them my cell # to contact me at since I'm never at home. No one ever left a message when they called, and they never called my cell. I called them back several times immediately after missing the call, and never got thru to anyone as it was their lunch hour. I left a message on the nurses line stating what had happened and to please call me themselves (the nurses) or have my dr call me back... no one ever did. All weekend I was annoyed b/c I'm just kind of floating along and feeling very in the dark. This is the first time I've had an IUI cancelled and I didn't know what to do next. I finally called again this morning and got the same fill in. My dr called me right back and was FURIOUS when I told him about the fact that I've been calling him since thursday afternoon -- he said the message he was just given was the first time he got a message that I had called. He was really mad about the answering service as well, so I have a feeling they'll be getting a call. He apologized. He then told me that I may want to consider OVARIAN DRILLING He said it's not a procedure that's done frequently, but that he thinks there's a good shot that I would start to ovulate on my own afterwards, and that then I wouldn't need IVF, and wouldn't need such powerful medications to get pg. About 10 years ago, when I was diagnosed w/ PCOS, I did A LOT of research and ALWAYS saw that ovarian drilling was frowned upon. I'm freaking out right now!!!!! He also called in provera to get me a period asap, but I decided after talking w/ him that I just want to take a few days to let my body rest---- it's been thru a lot of meds and sonos and bloodwork in the past month and i feel like it needs a break!!! UGH- why is everything so frustrating??!?!?!?!?

Re: Just talked to my RE...
Ovarian drilling used to be the primary treatment for PCOS. It is not very common these days. I would still go for your consult at LI-IVF and make an apointment at RSNY too so you can get a few different opinions on what the best course of action for you is.

Im so sorry you are going through this. At one point my RE suggest ovarian drilling also, after researching it, I was totally against it.

I am totally against it also. I'm actually really upset that my RE even suggested it, even though I know he's just trying to help. I made the mistake of watching the video
I am so terrified of things going near my belly button- I dont' know why--- so there's NO way I could ever get this surgery. Besides the fact, no one is going to remove parts of my ovaries!! Thanks!!!

ITA. That sounds very invasive and something I would definately want other opinions on. Sorry you had such a hard time getting ahold of your doc, definately unacceptable

I agree also- A second opinion (or even a 3rd) might just make the difference for you
