How does one go about finding out his/her bloodtype?
I know mine, but DH doesn't know his.
Unfortunately, my bloodtype doesn't match what is needed, but Rich's might.
Thanks!

I think he can just call his doctor and they can write a prescription for it.
At least that is what they did for my DH.
Actually it was my OB that wrote one for my DH when I was preggo

I found mine out when I donated blood in HS.
I found out DD's the day after she was born because they thought it was the reason for her jauntice.

thanks - he doesn't have health insurance that would cover any of that though.
If he just goes to the hospital's blood bank, could they take it then tell him what it is? (sorry, that sounds like such a stupid question)

Re: How does one go about finding out his/her bloodtype?
my fh does not have insurance and the doctor gave him a blood type test. i remember it costing less than $50 with no insurance. I know that giving blood tells you your blood type, but i think it takes a bit longer to find out.

If he donates blood through LI Blood Services they'll mail him a card with his blood type.

If its for a specific donation, as it seems to be from your posting, I would call the blood bank or whatever group or registry the person looking for a match is on. They can do it with a drop of blood from a fingerstick usually.
