I had to call 911 on a drunk driver

Oy Vey. blue jeep liberty--lic plate dsh
I was driving home from our friends house and I almost got smashed by a drunk driver. At first I gave them the benefit of the doubt but after swerving in and out of lanes on the Sagtikos and slamming on brakes and almost hitting I needed to call.
I placed the call to 911 and they transfered me to state police because I was on the Sag going onto Northern State East. I usually get off Northern state west but I wanted to make sure I gave the cops all the right info. So I follow the car onto Northern State east and it merges onto 454. So now state police has to transfer me to Suffolk. I'm now by the Dennison building talking to SCPD and they tell me there will be a car coming. So I kept my distance (got stopped at lights etc) and I followed this car TO SMITHAVEN MALL....still wtih no cop car in sight. Didn't pass one!!!! So I told myself that if the car kept going past the mall I'm turning around. Well near Moriches road I was going to turn around but the car I was following was there at the red light (plus there was a no u-turn sign) so I kept going to the next light. Well in the mean time as I kept driving to the next light, the jeep decides to make a left u turn on red.

Well because i had to wait at the light to turn around, I lost the car. However on my way home the entire time, I didn't see ONE cop car. So it makes me wonder if the police ever sent a car out in the first place.

I hope that guy didn't hit anyone.

I guess driving like a mad drunk lunatic swerving in and out of lanes and constantly slamming on your brakes doesn't constitute a cop to pull you over. But don't worry, I'll get pulled over because my windows are too dark.

wahoooo! Great job for calling it in! Chat Icon Chat Icon I think it's so awesome when people do things like that! Attempting to make our streets safer! WTG!
However, two things:
For liability reasons I would hesitate in posting this person's license plate and since the 3rd precinct (I THINK) it's the third it is very possible that the cop car may have been coming from the east side and since you mentioned you were around/by the dennison building when the chase was given up I would say it was more than likely that the cop was coming from the east.

I agree with Deb...I wouldn't post the license plate number on here..

KUDOS to you!!! I was in that area last night as well (early evening around 730 or so)..I DO HOPE a cop was in sight and hope that driver is sitting in a precinct right now.
