scheduling c-sections
DH and I discussed with our OB about a scheduled c-section and she agrees to do that for us. We did not schedule a date at that visit due to uncertainty at the moment. Now that we decided that its best for the baby what questions should be asked about scheduling this? Anyone else have any advice/experience with scheduled c-sections? Just wondering. Thanks again girls!

Re: scheduling c-sections
I had a scheduled c-section. Although we only scheduled it 2 days before surgery.
For me it was a great experience. I was very anxious leading up to it but slept great that night and had a very easy recovery.
I attribute my feelings towards c-sections to 1- my dr being wonderful 2- scheduling it so that when I went in, my body and the baby hadn't been through any trauma (ie labor/pushing) when surgery began. 3- sleeping!!! I let the nursery feed DS formula at night even though I was BF and I slept from 11-5/6am each day which I think really helped.
If you have any specific questions let me know!

Re: scheduling c-sections
I had a scheduled c with my daughter and I will with this one too.
I am not sure what questions you would want to ask. I knew fairly early on that I was going to have one with my daughter so I did a lot of research prior to the actual scheduling. So I only asked about my hands being tied down.
You might want to ask about pain management and how quickly they get you up and moving, this varies from hospital to hospital.
If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.

Re: scheduling c-sections
I had one unplanned and one scheduled c-section. As for the scheduled... The day before I had to go to the hospital for pre-surgical bloodwork. Then the day of, I had to arrive 2 hours before the surgery. At that time, I checked in and changed into my gown. I was then hooked up to an IV and monitors. In the end, my surgery was bumped back by over an hour due to emergencies. We walked down the hall to the OR and my DH had to wait in the next room as I got my spinal. You get totally numb from at least the waist down and they lay you down. My DH came back in and the surgery began. Afterwards, you go into recovery for a while until you regain feeling. I think maybe around 2 hours. Then you're in your room and the baby is brought in! Really that's about it...good luck!
