NYC is great.... and most parts are very safe. There are parts of LI that are much more  than midtown manhattan.....

snakes?
spiders?
bees(unless you are allergic that is understandable)
well i am not. i can hold them, take it in a cup and put it outside, bees heck just stand there and let them fly.
well those fears you have with them i have with the city

well those fears you have with them i have with the city
im not the kinda girl that freaks out when i see any of these bugs......a loose snake may surprise me and frighten me, but not afraid of them.........rodents on the other hand

ITA. I used to walk around Manhattan at all times of the night with no fear, but LI...not so much sometimes.

Awww Janet...NYC is great! You should have called Ro and I. We would have went with you.
I also like Rachel Ray. That would have been awesome!
As for the bugs you mentioned..I'm afraid of bees (allergic)..I'm not really afraid of spiders and stuff..Just HATE them. LOL.
If I'm home alone though, I have no choice but to take care of those nasty insects myself...Even last week, I had to let a wasp OUT of the house...
