nursing?!?!!?!?

arghhhhhhhhhhhh my kitten wakes me up several times a night by nursing on me.

she literally trie to nurse on my chest, lips & neck.
she drools, sucks, nudges, and 'kneeds'....

what is up?!?!?! i love her to pieces but its soooo annying and it hurts!!!!!!!!

i am thinking she was too young to have left her mom. but by now she should be done with all of that.

she is so forceful with it too. ill push her away, shes comes back. i toss her off teh bed, she comes back to nurse.

i give her milk replacement sometimes.

any other suggestions???

she is on dry food, so i dont get it.

eta: she NEVER does it to dh, only me.

Re: nursing?!?!!?!?

My old cat used to do that...some cats do it and some don't. I don't know if Sphinxs' have a tendency towards it or not, but if she's doing it now she will probably do it forever.

Both of my cats did that when they were little. Lydia grew out of it, but Eddie didn't, though it has gotten less frequent.

Re: nursing?!?!!?!?

I had a cat that used to do that. Generally, it means they were weaned too early.

ETA: why does it hurt? Is she sucking on your skin or on your clothes? If its the kneading that is hurting, make sure you trim her claws weekly, if they are short and blunt, you shouldn't feel any pricks from the kneading. (all cats do the kneading part, BTW)

I had a roommate once whose cat did that, and it was a few years old, not a kitten anymore. It was annoying.
