Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
We purchased two plants last year and it looks like it has survived the Winter.
We just stuck it in the ground and that was it!

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
I used to grow it back when I lived w/ my parents. It's easy to grow & gets bigger every year, it smells SO good...plant it along a path so when you walk by it & brush against it you'll smell the aroma. Didn't help that when I was in the yard 2 years ago my mother told me she ripped it up.

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
We've had 2 plants for about 5 years now. I do NOTHING to them - they grow, I snip some, they come back.

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
I have a flower box outside my window. I honestly do nothing....they grow on their own. When we re-do the gate at the end of our walk I want to plant 2 on either side.

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
My parents put one in our yard last year. That thing is one hearty plant! They are easy to take care of, we merely water it. Lasts through the winter..and sooo fragrant!

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
I might have to get some for my yard. Hearty and I have to do nothing but water it? That's my kind of plant!

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
Thank you for asking the question! I was wondering also....we're planting flowers this spring and I love lavender. How many plants should I buy? What kind of lighting do they need?

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
My in laws have a lavendar farm out east. Lavender is not easy to grow unless you have the perfect conditions. (trust me - we have acres and acres of it!!)
It needs sandy soil and at least 6 hours a day of sunlight. Its the kind of plant that hates water, but obviously needs it so it is all about the drainage.
Sometimes it survives the winter - and sometimes it doesnt.
That being said - if you have the right conditions it will grow bountifully and beautifully!!!
ps - here is a link to their farm site...if you go to the farm my FIL would be thrilled to answer any questions about growing it.

Re: Does anyone grow Lavender?
I bought some this weekend. It's not even flowered yet........and it smells so nice. I read that it prefers sandy soil........so thats what I put it in.
I cant wait for it to grow, and grow and grow..........

My neighbor has two bushes and they come in beautifully each year. I never really see him do anything special to them.
