computer gifted? please help
I had a new mother board installed in the summer. I havne't used my cd device or burner since it has been done. It is now telling me no cd burner, check if it is installed properly etc. It won't even play a cd. Any recommendations on how to fix this again?

Re: computer gifted? please help
Right click on my computer and select properties...i forget what its called on windows xp, but you need to get to device manager. Once there, you will see a whole bunch of computers works and plus signs...click on where it says DVD/CD-Rom Drives...read to me what is below and if you see any symbols that appear different on that row (exlamation point, questions mark, ciircle with line though it)
It is possible that drive might be dead It is possible the data cable is plugged in
i assume it has power as you said it wouldn't play a cd...
Need to see if windows sees it...

Re: computer gifted? please help
that sounds like you double clicked on my computers
we want to right click my computer and select properties...
please re-read my first post
or you can right click my computer and select manage...then click on either device manager (follow the above) or disk managment see if any of those drives represents your cd rom...
basically, i'm trying to figure out if its broken, or not plug in....
i seriously doubt (well, 50/50) there is something wrong with windows
